I had been building a portfolio without even realizing it: three restaurants, a residential remodel, and three homes. When people would approach me asking for my “design” services, I turned the projects down, repeatedly.
I would think, “I am not a designer. I don’t have a design degree.” Finally, after many years, I realized that I am just doing what I am compelled to do. So, I redefined the meaning of “designer.”
